Prominently featured in the BMW Unscripted mini documentary series was the BMW M5. The M5 is a high performance sports sedan emerging as a sub-brand variant within the BMW 5 series. The first hand-built model, appearing in 1985, sported the saloon sedan body. There was limited availability of the M5 as a wagon (estate) in specific countries between the years of 1992 to 1995.

The original E26 535i chassis boasted slick new modifications from the M1 engine, which gave it maximum speed and efficiency. The E26 535i was widely regarded as the fastest sedan on the market at the time of production, enjoying widespread popularity commercially.. Due to its ongoing success, a new M5 model was released to define each subsequent generation of the 5 series.

There were 300 special edition models built of the BMW M5 to commemorate the 30th anniversary. These included the striking “30 Jahre BMW M5”. Amazingly, all 300 special edition variations we’re available in BMW special edition paint. This was a unique individualized color shade entitled Frozen dark Silver Metallic. Special embroidery was included on the interior of the 30 Jahre M5 on the seat backrests. This embroidery was also on the front door sill finishers, and even on the plaque denoting the “30 Jahre M5” and “1/300” limited inscriptions located on the dashboard.

The BMW M5 is a truly iconic and influential luxury model of the famed automotive brand , which figured prominently in the Unscripted docu-series as owners of the M5 formed a real bond with this high performance vehicle. The portrayal of this owner/vehicle bond can be seen developing more in depth as each episode of the series progresses and the owners’ stories intertwine.
